Dear Friends, Warmer weather has arrived in Avery County, marking the beginning of our busy season here at Habitat for Humanity. Hammers are swinging all over our job sites, and while we are very grateful for our volunteers, we want to set down the hammers for a day to celebrate the completion of our 37th Habitat home. On July 13th, we will celebrate the completion of Jeremy and Amber Champion’s new home, the first home to be completed on Fuller Ridge Road of the Milford Meadows community. To arrive at the dream of homeownership, Jeremy and Amber have logged hundreds of “sweat-equity” hours and attended homeowner education classes covering a variety of topics. The Champions were also a part of our inaugural round of Financial Peace University, a 9-week financial management course intended to not only help participants earn and spend wisely, but to transform their entire outlook towards money. As an added celebration, Jeremy has recently landed a new…

The below article is from Crossnore Presbyterian’s winter newsletter… Crossnore Presbyterian Church, along with other local Presbyterian congregations and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, are partnering to raise the funds and build a home for a Habitat for Humanity partner family in Avery County. Our congregation has committed $5,000 of the $53,000 in pledges received thus far. In addition, we received an anonymous gift of $1,000 to kick start the campaign. The build will take place the first week of September, but we will be helping in August to prepare the foundation and with anything else that needs to be done prior to September. Our first task is to raise the rest of our pledge. We have $3,500 to go and only a few months to meet our goal. As visual encouragement, ACHFH has dropped off 50 studs in our fellowship hall that will actually be used in the building…
