What’s the Big Cheese really about?
This summer, eight Avery County community members will take what they already do – BBQ’s, pool parties, and games – and use it to benefit Avery County Habitat for Humanity. From July 1st until July 31st each contestant will compete in Avery Habitat’s inaugural “Big Cheese” event, a four-week fundraising competition to see which community member can raise the most funding for Avery Habitat’s next home.
Contestants can raise funds in any ethical manner they choose. They can host a cookout, send letters to friends, or even stand at the town stoplight with a bucket (with the appropriate permission, of course). Community members are encouraged to donate online in support of their favorite contestant by using the donate button at the bottom of the page. Also, be sure to visit the contestants at their local establishments to stay up to date on their unique fundraising ideas. At the end of the contest period, the contestant who has raised the most funds will be crowned the 2015 “Big Cheese” of Avery County.
The winner will be announced and crowned after the contest is over, at the Kruger Brothers Concert at Lees-McRae College on August 11, 2015! For more information about the “Big Cheese,” please contact Melanie Burgin at (828) 733-1909 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Choose the contestant you want to vote for, go to our “Make a Donation” button, make your donation using your credit card, and then “Add Special Instructions” with the name of the “Big Cheese” you want to vote for. Thanks!
