Crossnore Presbyterian Church, along with other local Presbyterian congregations and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, are partnering to raise the funds and build a home for a Habitat for Humanity partner family in Avery County. Our congregation has committed $5,000 of the $53,000 in pledges received thus far. In addition, we received an anonymous gift of $1,000 to kick start the campaign. The build will take place the first week of September, but we will be helping in August to prepare the foundation and with anything else that needs to be done prior to September.

Our first task is to raise the rest of our pledge. We have $3,500 to go and only a few months to meet our goal. As visual encouragement, ACHFH has dropped off 50 studs in our fellowship hall that will actually be used in the building process. Here’s the idea: for every $100 we raise, a stud will be moved from the “pledge” stack to the “donation” stack. We encourage you to physically sign the studs, writing messages for the family whose house they will be used in. For those of you who are donating from a distance, we will gladly sign the stud(s) for you. We already have 15 studs in our donation stack, equaling the $1,500 raised thus far.

This partnership between our small mountain churches and Covenant (a big city church) is only the first step. We hope that the Spirit which enabled this project will encourage us towards many more opportunities to work together, side by side, sharing the love of Christ in concrete and compassionate ways.
